About this tool
Most apps show profile pictures as circles, so a face that looks fine in a square can end up with the chin or hair cut off. Positioning the photo inside a circle first shows exactly what people will see. The download is a PNG with transparent corners, so it also sits neatly on websites, email signatures, presentations and posters.
Add a coloured ring to make your picture stand out in chat lists — a brand colour works well for business WhatsApp accounts. WhatsApp and Instagram crop the picture to a circle themselves, so the ring and positioning are what make the difference there.
Frequently asked questions
What size should a WhatsApp DP be?
WhatsApp shows profile photos small but stores them at up to about 640 × 640 px; 512 or 800 px is plenty. Instagram uses 320 × 320 px; 1080 px gives extra sharpness for print or websites.
Why does the PNG have transparent corners?
So the round picture sits cleanly on any background. Apps that need a square image will show the corners as white or black, but crop to a circle anyway.
Can I upload the round PNG to WhatsApp?
Yes. WhatsApp will crop it to a circle again; make sure the face is centred and not too close to the edge.
Is my photo uploaded?
No — everything happens inside your browser.
