How to use the Rotate & Flip Image

  1. Choose an image.
  2. Use the rotate and flip buttons, or the slider for any angle.
  3. Click “Save rotated image” and download.

About this tool

Phone photos sometimes open sideways on websites and in forms because the rotation is stored as a hidden tag instead of in the pixels. Rotating here bakes the correct orientation into the image itself, so it shows the right way up everywhere. Flipping horizontally undoes the mirror effect of front cameras, which matters for selfies with text in the background.

Use the slider to straighten a slightly tilted horizon or document by a few degrees. At angles that aren’t multiples of 90° the canvas grows to fit the whole picture, and you can leave the new corners transparent or fill them with a colour.

Frequently asked questions

How do I rotate a photo 90 degrees?

Click “Rotate right” for 90° clockwise or “Rotate left” for 90° anticlockwise. Click twice for 180°.

How do I un-mirror a selfie?

Click “Flip horizontal”. Text in the background will read correctly again.

Why are there empty corners after straightening?

Turning a rectangle by a few degrees needs a bigger canvas. Leave the corners transparent, fill them with a colour, or crop them away afterwards with the Crop Image tool.
